Toray Product Earns Indoor Air Quality Certification
Front Royal, VA, August 31, 2009 Toray Plastics (America), Inc. is proud to announce its 2.0 mm polypropylene foam underlayment surpassed the Indoor Air Quality emissions requirement for California’s Section 01350. Testing was performed by Air Quality Services, an ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory in accordance with ASTM D5116. Our polypropylene underlayment is a low emitting material, and as such is suited for use in a classroom or office with standard building practices per CA 01350.
California Section 01350 is a special environmental requirements standard developed by the State of California to cover key environmental performance issues related to the selection and handling of building materials. The California Section 01350 is the most stringent volatile organic compound (VOC)-emissions standards in North America. The California Section 01350 certification requirement also involves testing for various aldehydes including formaldehyde.
The primary goal of California Section 01350 is to reduce the impact of building materials on indoor air quality and health in buildings. The benefits of our low emitting foams include reduced chemical emissions, improved air quality for a more comfortable and productive environment, improved worker safety and health, reduced eye and respiratory irritation, headaches, and fatigue and value-added appeal to property buyers.
