Vacuum / Compression Molding Foam
Toraypef® offers industry-leading foams for vacuum forming applications requiring softness, flexibility, and high stretch characteristics. Other key properties, including tear strength, thermal performance and compression-set resistance, allow engineers the greatest processing flexibility. Toraypef® offers three levels of Vacuum/ Compression molding foam grades:
PPM2 Series
PPM2 is the industry standard for male and female vacuum form applications. This high polypropylene content foam is moderately crosslinked for the demanding thermoforming and compression molding applications where maximum draw and moldability are required. This series continues to be the most popular and versatile in the Toraypef® product line for over three decades.
· Deep draw
· Male and female vacuum form
· High compression strength
PRF2 Series
This lightly crosslinked polyethylene and polypropylene blend foam is specifically formulated for improved resistance to fingerprinting and compression molding applications where maximum draw and moldablity are required. This high polyethylene content series also offers excellent softness.
· Quick recovery from applied pressure
· Male vacuum form
· Moderate draw
· Softer feel with enhanced recovery
AC17 Series
This moderately crosslinked foam has higher compression strength and great internal shear strength with a lower density. The AC17 series is better suited for female vacuum thermal applications.
· Clear definition on sharp edges
· Successful on GRU processes
· Higher heat resistance
· Soft
· Best method to laminate to thin TPO and thin PVC
Toraypef® Vacuum & Compression molding foams are found in the following applications:
· Auto Door Trim Panels
· Seat Backs
· Inserts and Armrests
· Interior Running Boards
